    documentary roughcuts: segment #3

This chapter shows a classic case of what observers sometimes refer to as the “gun in the closet,” where politicians are kept from behaving too badly by the people’s initiative right. In this case the gun is actually taken out of the closet, though I prefer picturing a nerf ball, or in extreme cases, a paddle..

If you prefer, watch from the first chapter in order.

    documentary roughcuts: segment #2

Here’s the intro. You can access all sequences uploaded to date through any of the players. You can also watch and subscribe at lcd.blip.tv to be notified when a new chunk goes up, or watch it on YouTube

    Spots

We’ve been making a little progress on shorter comedic spots aimed at short-circuiting the likely anti-democratic deluge we will meet if we get on the ballot. Gail(professional funny person) seems to think we’ve got something.

Does anybody happen to have access to or know of someplace that could be used as an old-money power office and which we could get in for an hour or two?

    doc roughcuts: segment #1

here is the prologue of my still untitled and in post-production documentary on direct democracy, which when completed i hope will be useful to this effort and the broader democracy movement. i plan to post a new segment ever week or two. feedback towards an improved final assembly is much appreciated.

    Free printing!

Ecoprint has offered to provide us with free printing!

We have been planning on decentralizing much of our printing needs for the petition drive, with signature gatherers being able to download and print PDFs from this site of the petition forms and simple signs as they need them, to cut down on waste and save volunteers time.  More durable and high quality materials could definitely come in handy for some applications though!

    media meeting

we’re having a wee brainstorming get-together, focusing on identifying media we want to make now for when we need it later. in particular, we’ll be refining ideas for a short video spot or two to be shot in the coming months, but anyone with ideas or interest is welcome. we’ll be meeting in Brooklyn, location yet to be decided. outside if the weather’s nice. just give a ring or drop line if you’d care to join.
    best to all.

    Election Day 2011

    November 8, 2011

There’s a good chance, even if our proposal qualifies for the ballot, that it will be held off until the following year.  But that’s okay!

If all other hurdles are surmounted, we’re going to need a whole lot of poll watchers for half and hour around 9pm!
